Oceania Marine Completes Refit at its New Facility, South Shipyard

The 25M Motor Yacht ‘Crescendo’ has just completed a refit at South Shipyard, Port Whangarei, New Zealand. The refit was undertaken by Oceania Marine utilising its new facility, the Port Whangarei Marine Centre (PWMC). This facility is a large marine development recently undertaken by Oceania Marine comprising extensive sealed hardstand and refit/paint sheds, currently serviced by a new 100T travel lift.

The two month refit was carried out under cover in Bay 3, within the PWMC, which the travel lift can directly access making the transfer from water to shed quick and easy. The works consisted of extensive painting, teak decking, mechanical inspections and repairs as well as some minor insurance works.

Adjacent to the onshore facilities at the PWMC are floating docks for ‘in the water’ repairs and sea trialling. Stage 2 of the development is set to begin in the second quarter of next year when the installation of a larger 560T travel lift is planned to commence. This machine will be the largest in New Zealand and should be operational before the end of 2017
